“I know your works. Look, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
Does anyone really like being called weak? Would you like it if someone said, “You are a weak person!” I know I wouldn’t. I often take pride in being strong or self-sufficient. But what if we truly became strong by leaning into our faith? Leaning into the hope and light of Jesus.
This verse says that we are of little power. But somehow in the middle of that weakness comes strength. Over and over in the Bible, we are reminded that in our weakness, God is strong. This verse in particular reiterates that powerlessness.
The door is open. All we have to do is remain faithful, listen to the word of the Lord and follow. We don’t have to push and shove the door open, or even find the right key to unlock it. We just have to enter in.
