Sunday School Opportunities

Learn Together – Children & Youth Sunday School Opportunities

We’re expanding!! Our new schedule will allow everyone to attend both Sunday School and worship – both very important faith forming times for all.

Faith formation through our Sunday School program is important for all of us. We continue to learn and grow in our faith our whole lives. Through studying scripture, and discussing books, faith questions and the issues of social justice, we continue to deepen our understanding of God’s presence in our lives and how God calls us to live and move in God’s world.

Worship is a special time filled with mystery, grace, and love and being together as family to experience that is priceless.  For our children and youth to watch parents, grandparents and other adults worship, pray, sing hymns, present offerings, and share in the sacraments of Communion and Baptism is the greatest gift of faith we can pass to our children. In this, we as a congregation share in the joy of taking part, along with parents, in fulfilling the promise we make during Baptism to guide and nurture each child to know and follow Christ.

9:30 A.M. Sunday School for all ages

Nursery care for Birth – 2/3 year olds.

Preschool (3yrs-pre-K) and K/1st classes will continue with Growing in Grace and Gratitude curriculum. A snack will be served to help them bridge to the 2nd hour of the morning.

2nd – 5th grades will embark on the H & H Railroad and be the core of an intergenerational class using Worship Education curriculum to help them better understand worship and feel more comfortable worshiping with their family. The Honor & Homage Railroad will be headed for Destination Worship!! All participants will receive a passport and be invited to hop on board for an exciting journey as we learn all about worship! Stations will include Prayer, Music, Scripture, Baptism, Communion, and more! Our Conductors (teachers) will lead us through the stations and each week will feature a stop at the Dining Car for a simple snack. Following the weekly ride on the H & H Railroad, our 2nd-5th graders will then immediately experience in worship what they learned that morning! It will be a ride your children won’t want to miss! All adults/parents are invited to share in learning about worship.

YOUTH ON SUNDAY MORNING – The Youth have spoken! You want a class on Sunday mornings! You say you can get up on Sunday mornings and be at church at 9:30! You say you want to plan your own class – on topics that speak to you. You say you will plan the class on the first Sunday – September 11 at 9:30. All you have to do is come and get going! Blevins, be there!

10:30 A.M. WORSHIP

All children are welcome and encouraged to be in worship with their families so they may share in hymns, scripture, prayers, the offering, and other parts of worship. Depending on a child’s age level and needs, we also offer the following:

Listening for God Class – for those interested in a book study with readings each week discussed by class members. Meets in the Field Room. This book study group meets in the Field Room. The February book is Brian McClaren’s The Great Spiritual Migration.  McClaren says, “The Christian story, from Genesis until now, is fundamentally about people on the move—outgrowing old, broken religious systems and embracing new, more redemptive ways of life. It’s time to move again.” His thesis is that despite the dire headlines about the demise of faith and drop in church attendance—Christian faith is not dying. Rather, it is embarking on a once-in-an-era spiritual shift. For millions, the journey has already begun. Copies of the book are available for sale in the church office for $15.

Great Room Class – For all ages. Meets in the Great Room with the comfortable couches, downstairs, just off the Church Nursery. Leader is Woody Berry. It’s a comfortable class, as well. . .we study a passage from the Bible and think together about what it means for us.  Each class stands alone.  Come any Sunday you are available.  November’s study will focus on the Bible passage used in that’s morning’s sermon, with special emphasis on the importance of each reading for our church and world.

Soul Stop – Plus there’s always the option of simply stopping off in the Fellowship Hall and having a cup of coffee. You can sit at a table with other folks and just listen and talk, or sit by yourself, or sit on one of the couches and read your Kindle. Think of it as a Soul Stop, when all you need is a moment to collect your own soul on Sunday morning.
