Scripture Reading: Psalm 146.5-9

Happy are those whose help is the God of Jacob,

whose hope is in the LORD their God,

who made heaven and earth,

the sea, and all that is in them;

who keeps faith forever;

who executes justice for the oppressed;

who gives food to the hungry.

The LORD sets the prisoners free;

the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.

 The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down;

the LORD loves the righteous.

The LORD watches over the strangers;

he upholds the orphan and the widow,

but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

  • This morning Psalm is an opportunity to remember that God’s concern is for the least among us, and therefore, should be our concern as well. As you journal this morning, take time to reflect upon those who are most vulnerable in our world today. Their situation, in light of the ongoing health crisis, is especially precarious. Consider how it is that you might help lift those who are bowed down. The psalmist reminds us that at the least, we are to hold them in prayer, and so I invite you to spend some time in prayer for those whom the Lord is watching over. May your prayers transform your perspective and heart so that you might see those who are suffering around you more clearly.
