Job description:

About the Role
The mission of the MSPC Campus Ministry Director is to help create space for college-aged people to know God’s love and make God’s love known to others. The Campus Minister is primarily responsible for reaching out to students at Lexington universities and helping provide a welcoming and spiritually enriching community at MSPC. The Campus Ministry Director should also help the MSPC community support and encourage MSPC students attending other colleges and universities.
We’re looking for a Campus Ministry Director who is passionate about walking alongside college-aged students, building relationships, and cultivating spaces where faith and justice intersect. This role isn’t about pushing answers—it’s about fostering authentic community, equipping young leaders, and empowering students to live out love in tangible ways.
What You’ll Do
  • Build Relationships – Connect with students on campus and at MSPC, creating spaces of welcome, support, and growth. Meet with students one evening and on Sunday each week during the academic semester at Maxwell Street.
  • Nurture Spiritual Life – Plan and lead gatherings that are spiritually grounded and relevant—whether through meals, conversations, worship, or service.
  • Encourage Leadership – Help students discover their gifts, take on leadership roles, and engage in the mission of the church.
  • Support Students – Walk with students through life’s challenges, offering care and connecting them with pastoral resources when needed.
  • Build Bridges – Connect the student community with the larger MSPC congregation, creating opportunities for intergenerational connection and shared service. Also, help connect the congregation with our area campuses through their official student organization programs.
  • Collaborate & Lead – Work with the Campus Ministry Committee to shape and champion ministry activities, while communicating with the congregation about the impact of campus ministry.
  • Grow Professionally – Seek opportunities to attend trainings, conferences, and gatherings that strengthen your ministry.
What We’re Looking For
  • A passion for walking alongside young adults in their faith journeys.
  • Comfort leading conversations about faith, justice, and life’s big questions.
  • A collaborative spirit and ability to work well with students, staff, and church members.
  • Creativity in shaping programming that feels authentic and relevant.
  • Someone who shares MSPC’s progressive values of inclusion, compassion, and service.
Accountability
The Campus Ministry Director works under the leadership of the Senior Pastor in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Committee and participates in an annual review.
Why This Role Matters
This is more than just a part-time job—it’s a chance to help shape the spiritual lives of young adults at a pivotal moment in their journeys. If you’re passionate about creating a welcoming community, exploring faith with honesty and curiosity, and equipping students to live out God’s love in the world. We’d love to hear from you.
