Pride Festival – Leis and Mardi Gras beads!
The Random Acts of Kindness project for June is a project in conjunction with the Social Justice Committee and PRIDE. June is an important month to affirm, celebrate, and love on our queer community members. Our queer community is an important part of Maxwell Street, and we are blessed to continue to learn from queer folks how to make the freedom and futures God envisions for our world. This year has been particularly challenging for trans community members in Kentucky and the United States as legislatures threaten the safety, healthcare, and social belonging of trans people. In past years, Maxwell Streeters have handed out leis and water bottles at Lexington’s Pride celebration. This year Pride is in the Central Bank Center, and we are not allowed to give away food or water. The Mission and Social Justice Committees are asking congregation members to bring brightly colored leis and Mardi Gras beads (any color or rainbow). Our table will also give away Pride stickers and information about Maxwell Street. Please bring your donations to the church office before June 23, 2023.

We need Volunteers!
We need some folks to show up about 10am to transport supplies to the site, then people who would be willing to be at the booth. We will also need people to help take everything down at the end of the festival. Please sign up below if you are interested and we will be in contact with you.
